Pholc Mobil

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Pholc.
A few weeks ago I introduced you to Pholc  ( find the blogpost here ), a relatively new brand in Sweden that has made quite a lot of waves. A favorite design of mine, the Mobil series which includes the beautiful five arms pendant that everyone loves that hangs in my bedroom .  In the same series there are a pendant with 3 arms, 2 wall versions ( a tall and a short one) and a table version. The now very recognisable design with the curve wall tall version called Mobil 150 Wall can be seen in my home office space, right next to the beautiful big window. Scroll down and you will see how the shape changes depending of the angle you look at it, the signature curve can be seen so easily on the side, while if you look at it up front it looks completely straight!
The designer created the series having in mind that they should easily adorn a New York loft, and while tall ceilings a big windows accentuate the design itself, I can still see it in a shorter height home, even a country house. For me this is where a design goes from just trending, to becoming a classic, when you can see it fitting just as well in a contemporary loft to a classic country house.

Oh , and a piece of advice? Hide all the wires behind a poster on the foot of any lamp, as you see , this is exactly my solution here as well.

Fredericia : Trinidad - An Icon for Living

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Fredericia.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nanna Ditzel’s iconic Trinidad chair, Fredericia relaunched the iconic chair in a selection of new shades, enhancing the natural beauty of the materials in a contemporary manner.
Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) is one of the most significant figures of Danish design heritage. She is best known for her uncompromising approach to quality, playful shapes and a magnificent ability to transform her artistic dreams into very functional and sophisticated designs. With Trinidad, Nanna Ditzel turned the modernist mantra of material reduction against its original intent. The cut-out fretwork of the curved shells not only lightens the visual density of the chair, but it also functions as a decorative element. Inspired by her travels, Nanna Ditzel designed the Trinidad chair combining signature detailing with effortless elegance, while always aiming for great comfort and a sleek appearance. Nanna, on the inspiration behind the design said :

“On Trinidad I saw how the facades of the houses nearly dissolves in light and shadow – almost like a lace – and I thought to myself: How can I use this for a chair?”

Like a Gingerbread facade, the Trinidad Chair gently plays with the sunlight, creating a sense of motion in the space. The lightweight design embraces the body and is designed to suit not only the setting, but also the person that sits on it. The precise transparency of the Trinidad chair almost dissolves in a play of light and shadow, yet at the same time gives the chair a strikingly bold voice. The new editions are available in smoked, grey and light grey oak leaving the veneer with a visible wooden structure.

Inspired by the design I am also trying to use the chair accordingly. While its elegance stands out in both light and shadow, I am trying to place it in my space in a way that the light will always pass through it various times of the day thus creating a playful pattern on the floor. I also chose one of the new colours, light grey oak with black legs, so it fits my tone on tone styling in the bedroom/home office, although an all black would have looked great as well! Scroll down for more photos of the beautiful Trinidad chair, how do you like it in my space?

Sundays Office

Sunday, May 20, 2018

I came back to Oslo yesterday night and today I spend either on the balcony or right here, trying to catch up with everything work related. And as always, being the great blogger that I am, it took me all day to decide if I was even making a blogpost today, which I am at 23:45. Makes you wonder why I just dont post it tomorrow? Well there is this nagging feeling that I really need to be posting more, even though editorial quality content is hard to make in everyday basis, but then again..not everyday needs to be editorial right? So I hope you will forgive the occasional rumblings like this one, the one photo posts like this one (but a very real one, as what you dont see is me on the edge of the sofa with my macbook), the "I really have so much to say but I just dont have the time to write the words" like this one. I will gather my thoughts and most definitely come back with a clearer mind and more comprehensive posts, but for today, some people have said things better than me, if you find something interesting, do click on!
  1.  GDPR & What It Means For Bloggers, whether you are in EU or not, here are some short and easy guidelines for the new rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (especially if you have newsletter etc)
  2. 4 Things bloggers need to know for the industry to survive , including oversaturation of ads on social media and how this is detrimental for bloggers.
  3. A letter from Holly , I dont agree with everything in this letter from Holly but she does ask some of the right questions, are bloggers truthful with their advertising, as a blogger do you still connect with your fellow bloggers like before, and more.
  4. Frida from Trendenser is wondering if she is lost in her vision and where her blog is going (something I have been wondering a lot as well). Turn auto translation on, its in Swedish but worth a read!

Aesop Deodorant love

Monday, May 14, 2018

A few weeks ago I received the newsletter about the new Aesop Deodorant, and as all new Aesop things go, I was really curious to try it. The smell is very familiar , most Aesop scents have a relaxed friendliness aura, you know what I mean if you have ever visited one of the stores. Whether you want to smell like Aesop in your armpits that is up to you, I have been using it so much however that I now need a new bottle. In the photo above you can also see some of my favorites from Aesop when it comes to everyday use. The Lucent Facial concentrate, helps even and brighten skin tone. Thanks to Vitamin C that helps reduce pigmentation, and niacinamide that fights age spots and unifies skin tone, you can expect a brighter skin tone and smoother texture with regular use. A smoother texture will ensure light bounces off your skin evenly to give it that natural, healthy glow. Just pop into an Aesop store and ask for a sample they will be happy to demonstrate and give you a few days of worth of samples too, it will change your skin, I personally love it. Another favorite of mine, the Rejuvenate Intensive Body Balm ( sitting on the marble grey plate ), although it is supposed to be for the body I mostly use it for my hands. They are part of the body right? It absorbs quickly and moisturizes thoroughly while the texture of this balm is thick, but when applied to the skin it soothes without leaving a greasy finish. It also smells absolutely amazing, the scent profile is Tangerine Rind, Vanille and Sandalwood The aromatic oils are very soothing, and also penetrate deeply to relax the muscles. Use it for your feet, calves, just try it before bed and you will thank me ;)

My favorite brass details

Friday, May 11, 2018

Last few months I think you might have noticed I am loving nickel coated and silver surfaces, but you will also notice that my love for brass is still going strong, even though it is not as pronounced as last year. Key pieces here and there will make a difference, I tend to have one thing here , one thing there.. I think the color pops out more like this and it creates a subtle statement. Today I am sharing a few of my favorites, some new, some old! Lets dig in!

A new addition to my collection ( photo above ) the handmade brass candleholder called Moon Candleholder by Mleko Living. Beautiful shape and quite unique, I love how it looks on my windowsill. Mleko Living also have beautiful ceramics ( remember the carafe from the previous blogpost on my marble plinth table?  That is also from Mleko  and you can find it here). A glimpse also in the photo above of the Ferm Living candle extinguisher in brass, yes you can just blow the candle, but why not extinguish the flame in style if you can?

Another favorite of mine, something that I use all the time in fact, the brass tray ( the Edge Plate in small as seen above)  from Skagerak . Designed by Stilleben in Denmark , this tray is so very versatile, use it as a tray for plants, inside or outside, use it as a tray for small or bigger things, use it to carry things ( on the larger size), you will love it either way. I think I might have 5 or 6 of them in various sizes, it is like an amazing t shirt that you buy in every color because it fits you so amazingly! I also posted this photo on my instagram ( check it out here) if you are looking for a tip to clean your brass items, they will look like new trust me ;)

Simple and clean, the water bottle/carafe from Menu is beautiful on its own, without water, but of course I do use it as intended ;) The only problem is now I also want the glasses that go with..

Hiding a little bit behind the  beautiful Menu TR Bulb Table lamp, a purchase from almost two years ago now that is still on top of my favorite list. The incense burner Circa by Cinnamon Projects. If you do not know about Cinnamon Projects, then I suggest you visit their page regardless, from fragrances to incenses, even if you do not like to burn them, their collection is so beautiful, you will want one regardless. For the record my favorite one to burn is the 8pm.

Yet another from Menu, this time the brass is only on the edge of the marble mirror Pepe. I chose the white one when I got it since I painted everything in my bedroom beige, even the windows, but it comes in quite big variety of marbles, always however, with the brass ring accentuating the design and the marble.

Small but it draws the eye, the brass spoon Fein in small ( comes in bigger sizes as well and it is part of the collection Fein that can be seen as a whole here). My only problem is that I only have 2 of each, I need to fix that!

Old but always on the spotlight, the brass bonbonniere Peak ( here in large), from Stelton. I store everything from candy to USB wires in it, or even used tea lights, depending on where I place it. Handy with stunning design!

And last but not least ( as seen on the photo below), the brass shelf Reflect. The series also comes with beautiful brass hooks ( as seen in my Bedroom Renovation reveal post) that I use when I want to hang anything that is handy in the bedroom ( usually my speaker or robe).

These are few of my  brass favorites, if you have any you would like to share, just leave a comment below, I d love to see what you use everyday and what you love having around!

My bedroom pendant and a recent living room addition

Sunday, May 6, 2018

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Pholc.
For a while now, one of the most frequent questions I receive is about the beautiful pendant that is hanging above my bed (photo below). I first saw the Mobil 100 pendant by Pholc a few months ago while strolling around Stockholm. I didn't buy it then because I wouldn't have been able to carry it with me in flight, but I made a mental note on checking up on it as soon as I returned back to Oslo. I found the company that makes them ( Pholc ) and I found that in fact they were quite affordable for such a great quality and such a size for a pendant, but unfortunately back then they were not easy to find in Norway. Fast forward a few months later and Pholc is fully represented in Norway ( you can find most of the collection in one of my favourite stores Hviit ), if you were thinking of buying it, now you can easily do so! My bedroom pendant comes in different sizes ( with either 5 arms or 3 arms) as well as 3 different finishes ( black, nickel coated and brass). In the same line you can also find a wall lamp and table lamp, all in different finishes too.
However, while Pholc is now quite well known for their very recognisable pendants, they also have other notable designs that follow the same values, build to last with great materials , beautiful Swedish design, all the while keeping their price range budget friendly and affordable. As seen in the photos above, their wall lamp Bellman is  a great fit next to my couch, and as it swivels left and right it is also quite customisable. In fact I just put it up today and I very much like how the corner looks like. The photos are taken without turning it at all, so you can see how it looks from completely different angles without touching it. I really like how it creates interesting views from all sides!
Pholc, even though is a relatively young company, already has some great designs to showcase, and as you can see, I am already a big fan, for a long time now. You can check their whole range here, but also , you can check the blog for updates, these will not be the only Pholc that will find themselves in my space (I am looking at you Spinn Pendant and Pearls 65).

Favorites from Lyngby Porcelain

Wednesday, April 18, 2018

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Lyngby Porcelain.
Porcelænsfabrikken Danmark – Lyngby Porcelæn was established in 1936 in Kgs. Lyngby, north of Copenhagen, as a manufacturer of porcelain service sets, vases and other designer pieces of high craftsmanship and technical quality. When the factory closed in 1969 it already held an established place in Danish design history with its unique and distinctive designs, many of which live on today. In 2012, Lyngby Porcelæn re-opened and is today behind the re-release of iconic designs that are reproduced with the greatest care and respect for the factory’s noble design heritage.

Some of my favourites include their signature iconic vases , The Lyngby Vase, designed originally in 1936( as seen in the photo above in grey), and a fun reinterpretation of it for 2018 with the addition of running glaze. The surface is a combination of glossy and very matt-glazed ceramic(something I love ), and it comes in one size 20cm in 3 colors : White (as seen on my table), Black and Rose. The new experimental technique makes for a fresh take on the design, and since it’s handmade, every vase is unique and the glazing varies. Iconic but with a twist!

Another favorite of mine,Perfect for festive days , but also for any other time of the year, the beautiful Chapeau bonbonniere as seen below. I have quite the selection in my apartment, the all new completely clear in glass and the classic favorite in big size and color mat camel are my newest additions! Use them for holiday candy, hide away bits and bobs ( usually I have tea lights in the big and dark chocolate covered raspberries in the small). Need even more uses other than elegant storage ? Use them to serve ice cream or any of our favorite desert, fill them with water and add flowers for an impromptu vase! So many amazing possibilities for these little pieces of art! And speaking of filling bonbonnieres with flowers...

Scroll below..

While above I highlighted some of my favorite designs, there is something else that Lyngby Porcelain produces that I really love to use and style. I am of course talking about their Rhombe collection, that includes tableware but also tea and coffee set , vases , candleholders and last but not least a beautiful range of balls and bells for Christmas! Clear clean lines, chic white porcelain and patterns from the archives. The Rhombe frame is truly a tribute to the classic frame. The line is perfect for dinner with a full dinnerware set of course, but it also works great for coffee and tea! It also includes a sugar bowl with lid and tea light holders, candleholders, plus vases ( see the whole selection here ).
One of best styling tips for a romantic afternoon, or a coffee with your best friends, is to place flowers not only in vases, but instead take the tops off, fill the smaller Rhomble bowls with water and then gently let them drop and fill the rest of the bowl!

My apartment in Oslo full tour : Up for sale

Monday, April 9, 2018

Last few days I have been styling and photographing the apartment I am renting, and today I can finally share it as well! I have been very lucky to find this beautiful classic in the middle of Grünerløkka when I moved to Oslo last summer, with its beautiful layout and details, the original floors painted grey, stuccos and vintage stove.  The bathroom was completely renovated as well while the location of the apartment itself is perfect. Right next to Mathallen and a few meters away from Akerselva river, in the middle of Oslo. The apartment is located in the middle building of the city square and it is surrounded by a beautiful yard, full of trees and abundant space for summer strolls and dinners. Tim Wendelboe cafe is in the same city square as well, I can walk through my backyard in the morning for one of the best coffees in the city.
Scroll down for a more complete look of my apartment, but also, if you want to see more photos in higher resolution , feel free to visit my dropbox folder .

Although I spend quite a few months here, it took me a while before I painted everything the way I wanted. Call me a little bit slow, when it comes to another styling I make snap decisions, when it comes to my own space I move in turtle time. I did however manage finally make color decisions and I ended up redecorating the bedroom not a long time ago ( see before and after here ), while just a week ago I finished up the look in the kitchen and living room. Although I was planning on painting with Lady Minerals in the living room, due to time pressure I decided to instead use Lady Pure Supermatt colors since they are quicker to paint with ( they don't require any special technique ) , while at the same time they give a timeless effect due to their supermat finish. The solution I ended up with was painting the wooden wall from its natural color to LADY 5455 Industrial Blue Supreme finish for wood and panels, while I kept the rest of the room simple and sleek painting in LADY 9918 Klassisk Hvit Pure color supermatt for walls. I love how my simple TV (and quite an old one) is now blending with the wall , while at the same time the beautiful blue is giving a feeling of luxury, win win!

For my styling I mostly used my own furniture and props, but some details I really feel added a lot of depth in my interpretation of "Modern living in an 1890s apartment". The Crown chair from Mass Productions, the TR lamp from Menu and the posters on the wall were some of the new additions in my living room (kindly borrowed from Houz.no), the Panthella lamp from Louis Poulsen (kindly borrowed from Elisabeth Heier), all easily blended in with all the furniture I already owned, the Core table lamp from New Works (I got mine from Home Made Stories shop ) the beautiful plinth marble table from Menu, Hay slit table in mirror, Pallo vases in various sizes from Skrufs glasbruk, Sofa from Bolia, marble low table from Erik Jørgensen EJ 64 , details from Frama and Byredo. Tip : Color coordinating works wonders for details, the blue wall matches the Core table lamp from New Works (its granite blue), but also the blue speaker from Urban Ears ( on the floor on a stack of books).

The kitchen was also painted but this time I went for a more colorful look using LADY Raw Canvas 10961, Pure color supermatt. If there is anything I would have added ( and I still may if the new owners allow) would be to also paint the windows and the door the same color for a more uniform and modern look. However even with white details it works quite beautiful I think , and since the floors are grey I got to keep and color match even the And Tradition In Between table and chairs I already had. Small details also work great however in this setting, glass and brass bottle from Menu, salt bowl and brass spoon from Ferm Living (also terracotta fruit bowl and brass candleholder from Ferm Living on the table).

And while I still live in this apartment until July, I will fully enjoy the balcony ( not sure if the next apartment will have one), if you want to get the look then most of pots for flowers and trays are from Skagerak , the chairs and coffee table is from Fermob , the bench from Domo design, cups from Kinto and water can from Menu. If there are any details you would like me to specify, please leave a comment below and I ll get back to you as soon as possible!
