Pholc Mobil

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Pholc.
A few weeks ago I introduced you to Pholc  ( find the blogpost here ), a relatively new brand in Sweden that has made quite a lot of waves. A favorite design of mine, the Mobil series which includes the beautiful five arms pendant that everyone loves that hangs in my bedroom .  In the same series there are a pendant with 3 arms, 2 wall versions ( a tall and a short one) and a table version. The now very recognisable design with the curve wall tall version called Mobil 150 Wall can be seen in my home office space, right next to the beautiful big window. Scroll down and you will see how the shape changes depending of the angle you look at it, the signature curve can be seen so easily on the side, while if you look at it up front it looks completely straight!
The designer created the series having in mind that they should easily adorn a New York loft, and while tall ceilings a big windows accentuate the design itself, I can still see it in a shorter height home, even a country house. For me this is where a design goes from just trending, to becoming a classic, when you can see it fitting just as well in a contemporary loft to a classic country house.

Oh , and a piece of advice? Hide all the wires behind a poster on the foot of any lamp, as you see , this is exactly my solution here as well.

Bergen's best Airbnb rental

Friday, June 22, 2018

I will be spending some time in the summer house the next two months, and now that I have gotten the ok to renovate it as I see fit (of course within a budget), I am looking for inspiration as to what style I want it to have. Most certainly I want it to feel like a summer house, or really a vacation house, I do not want it to be too contemporary. A cross between a cabin with modern country vibes is what I have had in mind and when I stumbled on this amazing rental townhouse in Bergen I knew it would serve as great inspiration.

Built in 1710, this historic Norwegian townhouse has been restored and renovated into what it looks today in this post. When Todd Saunders of Saunders Architecture found this old townhouse in the Norwegian city of Bergen, the facade looked great but it didnt match the inside. The previous owners had made some questionable decisions when it came to decoration but also overall style, something that was about to change and become the beautiful modern rental that is today.

I love the Dinesen Douglas fir floors, the beautiful Bergen based Souk cladded bathroom, the custom-designed kitchen worktops and cabinetry that have been handcrafted by Copenhagen furniture makers København Møbelsnekkeriet, among others. Scroll below to see more photos, and as days go by, check the blog for updates of how my holiday house is coming along! Although so far I do not have the budget for such a renovation as the Saunders one, but nonetheless I promise you, the difference will be quite dramatic!

Fredericia : Trinidad - An Icon for Living

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Fredericia.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nanna Ditzel’s iconic Trinidad chair, Fredericia relaunched the iconic chair in a selection of new shades, enhancing the natural beauty of the materials in a contemporary manner.
Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) is one of the most significant figures of Danish design heritage. She is best known for her uncompromising approach to quality, playful shapes and a magnificent ability to transform her artistic dreams into very functional and sophisticated designs. With Trinidad, Nanna Ditzel turned the modernist mantra of material reduction against its original intent. The cut-out fretwork of the curved shells not only lightens the visual density of the chair, but it also functions as a decorative element. Inspired by her travels, Nanna Ditzel designed the Trinidad chair combining signature detailing with effortless elegance, while always aiming for great comfort and a sleek appearance. Nanna, on the inspiration behind the design said :

“On Trinidad I saw how the facades of the houses nearly dissolves in light and shadow – almost like a lace – and I thought to myself: How can I use this for a chair?”

Like a Gingerbread facade, the Trinidad Chair gently plays with the sunlight, creating a sense of motion in the space. The lightweight design embraces the body and is designed to suit not only the setting, but also the person that sits on it. The precise transparency of the Trinidad chair almost dissolves in a play of light and shadow, yet at the same time gives the chair a strikingly bold voice. The new editions are available in smoked, grey and light grey oak leaving the veneer with a visible wooden structure.

Inspired by the design I am also trying to use the chair accordingly. While its elegance stands out in both light and shadow, I am trying to place it in my space in a way that the light will always pass through it various times of the day thus creating a playful pattern on the floor. I also chose one of the new colours, light grey oak with black legs, so it fits my tone on tone styling in the bedroom/home office, although an all black would have looked great as well! Scroll down for more photos of the beautiful Trinidad chair, how do you like it in my space?

At Elisabeth Heiers Bathroom

Monday, June 18, 2018

Spending the afternoon at Elisabeth's house , best place to work, not just because we are friends, but because her apartment is absolutely amazing ;) While washing my hands in the bathroom I couldn't help but snap a few quick photos, even though I only had my travel camera with me with a 45mm lens, equivalent to an 85mm lens. This means I could only shoot close ups, but I hope you can see some of the beautiful details then. As for more photos ( plus how the bathroom looked before ) you can check Elisabeths own post on her blog here. Believe me, its worth it, you will fall in love ;) Some of the highlights for this renovation and few of my favorite details include the Montana bathroom furniture, faucet from Dornbracht , and even though it is not a details, the most beautiful floor from Pastellone is a natural floor system made out of lime, marble powder and other minerals inspired by antique Venetian floors. The material choices were great I think, Elisabeth designed a bathroom that is at the same time as elegant as it is calm and relaxing place to be. Who wouldn't want to shower in here and get ready in the morning?

Abate

Saturday, June 16, 2018

Amidst the summer days we are having in Oslo, there are some local news that should help take some of the heat off..literally! Abate is relatively a new brand on the scene , but the quality is what for me sets them apart. With a 400 thread count, made of Egyptian hand picked cotton, you are guaranteed a good nights sleep.

And this is how it all started, Kristian and Leo, two friends who discovered how difficult it was to find good bedding for a good price. They mean high quality, high comfort and good design should not cost a fortune and they have done exactly so. Do read on their quality, it is quite impressive!Their weaving and stitching is carried out in a family-run factory, almost one hundred years back, in the Guimarães district of northern Portugal. They manufacture consciously at this factory specifically to ensure the quality of production, the conditions of textile workers and the environment. In their words :
The strength of the threads and durability of the fabric allows you to get a product that lasts and lasts quality over time. Then you do not have to swap as often. We wish that it will give both you and the environment long-term value.

I already have a pair of sheets in white but now Abate has launched 2 different shades of grey to choose from, with the latest addition a dark grey. And how is this related with the summer days? Take my word for it, you wont sweat it, pun intended ;)

Scandinavian Scents for this Summer

Thursday, June 14, 2018

This beautiful summer that has been bestowed to us is a blessing, all Scandinavians will remember it as the Summer of 2018. But with temperatures this high the need to smell good is bigger that ever and with a huge selection of Scandinavian perfumes to choose from, it feels like match made in heaven. Below I am presenting you some of my favorites, do read on, the choice is yours!

1 :: Byredo was launched in Sweden in 2006 by Ben Gorham at the age of 31 years old, after an inspiring encounter with perfumer Pierre Wulff. The native Swede didn’t have a formal training in the field, but he sought out the services of world renowned perfumers to whom he carefully explained his olfactory desires. Bibliotheque is back in stock and just in time, I had just finished my previous bottle!

2 :: The designer Ann Ringstrand, born in Sweden, has created fashion since early 1990. She teamed up with perfumers in Paris to design her own niche perfume line made in France. The concept developed a fragrance series with ceramic ware for scent diffusing among others that is available now. All 3 perfumes are exquisite, you just have to try them!

3 :: AGONIST is a Swedish Perfume House launched 2008. Today AGONIST is regarded as one of the most sought after and unique brands within the international niche market of perfumes. The unique and dramatic artistic expressions from AGONIST is derived from the beauty of Scandinavian nature and culture. AGONIST is founded by the creative couple Christine and Niclas Lydeen.Solaris is inspired by the vibrant midnight sun that never sets during summers in the North. Fresh, citrusy and warm, this fragrance is as magical as refreshing.

4 :: Son Venin is a new Norwegian perfume brand with headquarters in Oslo. With a respectful and discreet approach, Son Venin creates experimental, intimate perfumes that fuse a continental feeling with their Scandinavian background. Le Voleur is an elegant and seductive scent, that mingles together the freshness of a white bouquet and modern iris with sensual incense and gaïac wood.

5 :: A native Icelander, Andrea Maack graduated from the Icelandic Art Academy with a degree for Fine Arts. What began as a series of scent-focused exhibitions by Icelandic visual artist Andrea Maack quickly became a line of unisex, appealing perfumes that walk the line between commercial and Avant-garde. Created for an art exhibition, the theme for Smart comes from an empty white gallery space. At first it emits substance and intimacy but as you spend more time and delve deeper the visceral moods unravel, revealing the sensual and the seductive. Smart opens with a luxurious line-up of heady jasmine, luscious vanilla, exotic sandalwood and creamy musk blended carefully with a subtle buckskin leather note that holds the white notes in balance.

Beautiful Petite Apartment Studio in Gothenburg

Wednesday, June 13, 2018

I happened to run across a few days ago this amazing petite apartment in Gothenburg while perusing Entrance makleri, for a super small space, it is packing with amazing style. I could not possibly live in here of course, I definitely need a separate bedroom from the living room, while the space does not look like it has any real storage, so everything would be messy within an hour if I lived there. However, add one more room and even a few square meters for keeping all my things, and I am sold. From the old details to the huge beautiful era windows, stunning floors, even the beautiful entrance, I dont even care that it is on the first floor. Love the styling too, very clever use of space with only just a hint of country, just enough to create a cozy atmosphere. I love it. Scroll below for more photos or visit Entrance makleri for an overview plus the plan, you wont believe how small it really is!

Sundays Office

Sunday, May 20, 2018

I came back to Oslo yesterday night and today I spend either on the balcony or right here, trying to catch up with everything work related. And as always, being the great blogger that I am, it took me all day to decide if I was even making a blogpost today, which I am at 23:45. Makes you wonder why I just dont post it tomorrow? Well there is this nagging feeling that I really need to be posting more, even though editorial quality content is hard to make in everyday basis, but then again..not everyday needs to be editorial right? So I hope you will forgive the occasional rumblings like this one, the one photo posts like this one (but a very real one, as what you dont see is me on the edge of the sofa with my macbook), the "I really have so much to say but I just dont have the time to write the words" like this one. I will gather my thoughts and most definitely come back with a clearer mind and more comprehensive posts, but for today, some people have said things better than me, if you find something interesting, do click on!
  1.  GDPR & What It Means For Bloggers, whether you are in EU or not, here are some short and easy guidelines for the new rules of the General Data Protection Regulation (especially if you have newsletter etc)
  2. 4 Things bloggers need to know for the industry to survive , including oversaturation of ads on social media and how this is detrimental for bloggers.
  3. A letter from Holly , I dont agree with everything in this letter from Holly but she does ask some of the right questions, are bloggers truthful with their advertising, as a blogger do you still connect with your fellow bloggers like before, and more.
  4. Frida from Trendenser is wondering if she is lost in her vision and where her blog is going (something I have been wondering a lot as well). Turn auto translation on, its in Swedish but worth a read!
