A few weeks ago I introduced you to Pholc  ( find the blogpost here ), a relatively new brand in Sweden that has made quite a lot of waves. A favorite design of mine, the Mobil series which includes the beautiful five arms pendant that everyone loves that hangs in my bedroom .  In the same series there are a pendant with 3 arms, 2 wall versions ( a tall and a short one) and a table version. The now very recognisable design with the curve wall tall version called Mobil 150 Wall can be seen in my home office space, right next to the beautiful big window. Scroll down and you will see how the shape changes depending of the angle you look at it, the signature curve can be seen so easily on the side, while if you look at it up front it looks completely straight!
The designer created the series having in mind that they should easily adorn a New York loft, and while tall ceilings a big windows accentuate the design itself, I can still see it in a shorter height home, even a country house. For me this is where a design goes from just trending, to becoming a classic, when you can see it fitting just as well in a contemporary loft to a classic country house.

Oh , and a piece of advice? Hide all the wires behind a poster on the foot of any lamp, as you see , this is exactly my solution here as well.

Fredericia : Trinidad - An Icon for Living

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Fredericia.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Nanna Ditzel’s iconic Trinidad chair, Fredericia relaunched the iconic chair in a selection of new shades, enhancing the natural beauty of the materials in a contemporary manner.
Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005) is one of the most significant figures of Danish design heritage. She is best known for her uncompromising approach to quality, playful shapes and a magnificent ability to transform her artistic dreams into very functional and sophisticated designs. With Trinidad, Nanna Ditzel turned the modernist mantra of material reduction against its original intent. The cut-out fretwork of the curved shells not only lightens the visual density of the chair, but it also functions as a decorative element. Inspired by her travels, Nanna Ditzel designed the Trinidad chair combining signature detailing with effortless elegance, while always aiming for great comfort and a sleek appearance. Nanna, on the inspiration behind the design said :

“On Trinidad I saw how the facades of the houses nearly dissolves in light and shadow – almost like a lace – and I thought to myself: How can I use this for a chair?”

Like a Gingerbread facade, the Trinidad Chair gently plays with the sunlight, creating a sense of motion in the space. The lightweight design embraces the body and is designed to suit not only the setting, but also the person that sits on it. The precise transparency of the Trinidad chair almost dissolves in a play of light and shadow, yet at the same time gives the chair a strikingly bold voice. The new editions are available in smoked, grey and light grey oak leaving the veneer with a visible wooden structure.

Inspired by the design I am also trying to use the chair accordingly. While its elegance stands out in both light and shadow, I am trying to place it in my space in a way that the light will always pass through it various times of the day thus creating a playful pattern on the floor. I also chose one of the new colours, light grey oak with black legs, so it fits my tone on tone styling in the bedroom/home office, although an all black would have looked great as well! Scroll down for more photos of the beautiful Trinidad chair, how do you like it in my space?

Todays office and painting plans

Sunday, January 7, 2018

I am finally back at Oslo and I put myself to work immediately. One of the first things to cross from my list for 2018 is to finally paint the apartment, especially since I have had a wine accident spill on the bedroom walls and everywhere it hit on the wall is now a color purple. Nothing that a little bit of paint wont easily fix! I have decided a long time ago which color to go for when it comes to the living room, but the bedroom is proving quite hard to decide. In reality I love the white walls, not because of any trends, but because I have always prefered my bedroom specifically to be white. It was really nice for a year where I had it grey in the previous house ( see here or here ), but the floors were completely white so it paired well.  For now I was thinking of going the way of a deep ecru/beige or off white, all this depending on how dark I want the walls to be. I would love to do a dark blue or minerals, but, when it comes to really dark colors I know I will want to change it 2 months , while I am doing mineral walls in the living room so I don't want it to be too similar. To be completely honest I think I have decided on color Space ( from Lady Jotun as seen here code 10678) , a classic light beige color .  If I find I miss white too much , then I can certainly repaint ;) Also another trick, I think I will not paint all the way up , probably I will stop in the middle of the windows closer to the top though. The results will be in Tuesday or Wednesday so stay tuned!

Small office in the bedroom

Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Advertisement // Sponsored post in collaboration with Skagerak.
Moving in the apartment from a big house, there are always some compromises that have to be made when it comes to space. I ended up clearing up a lot of things ( which I did gladly however), but until now there was something I have been missing, a small space to work at in the mornings. I used the kitchen table as my office until now ( you can see it here ) and even though I will still use it as well, I decided it was time I created a small office nook in the bedroom for myself. Since I dont have a lot of space and I didnt want to fill the whole bedroom with a big table, I chose the Georg desk from Skagerak , which is quite petite but at the same time due to its design, it is quite spacious. The Georg Jubilee Stool created for the celebration of Skagerak’s 40th anniversary was my choice for sitting while working ( equipped with a rare cushion made of aniline leather from the Swedish tannery Tärnsjö ). Situated next to one of the big bedroom windows the cozy office space has plenty of light all day, perfect for working! With a few posters, candles and my favorite table lamp, I think for now it looks very inviting! The Georg Desk also comes with additional drawers if needed though, and while I love the clean cut lines as it is, you might see this addition shortly, they are perfect for storing small things that otherwise would clutter the desk.

Home Office

//Photography and Styling by Katerina Dima
I have had the same office space for a long time now, and I feel it needs a change. First thing that comes to mind of course is a new desk and a new chair. I will be making a wishlist soon that will include some of my choices, however don't be surprised if I end up changing the room altogether as well. I moved the office upstairs so that it would have more light, but I miss a more private space to work, so I might move it back downstairs now that I am renovating the second bedroom. With the right paint on the wall and the right ambient light, even a small room with a small window can look great, and with winter still around I think a cozy office space will not be a bad idea at all. In the meantime I am gathering ideas on my Pinterest board Home - Office. You are welcome to stop by and see where I get my inspiration from.

Home office organization with 3M

Wednesday, June 15, 2016

Ad // Sponsored post in collaboration with 3M®. All opinions are my own.

I have always been a very organized person, I find that regardless of what work you do,your efficiency grows tenfold in you keep an organized space but most importantly, an organized journal/calendar.And even though we are swarmed with technology (I keep online photos, screenshots, etc), writing on paper has always been my preferred method of keeping track of my professional but also personal life. 3M and their sticky notes have a permanent spot on my home office(taking notes, using as bookmarks etc) so I was really excited to see their news including not only new colors and shapes, but XL sizes as well. As you can see from above, the XXXL notes have taken a permanent place on the side of my Macbook. The size is perfect for keeping quick notes or ideas that come to my mind without having to use 2 or 3(or even more) of the smaller sized ones that now are only used for single notes and reminders. If you sign up to 3M newsletter here (you only need a few seconds to fill in the form) you will be send a free sample as well, I am so confident you will love them as much as I do. All sizes come in two variations, with lines or without. Personally I prefer without but in more than few occasions lined ones have also been helpful so I always keep a few stacks of each in my drawers!

//Colors of products above may vary due to editing and screen calibration.

#workworkwork

Tuesday, May 31, 2016

I have been away for the weekend and while I thought I would be able to keep up, it turns out I didn't have internet which made it very hard for me to work. I am back home now though and finally the weather is good enough to start sanding the floor of our little veranda, in preparation of painting it. I shopped some things for the project, mostly decorations and materials needed for my DIY ideas for the balcony, but also I was lucky to find a blanket I had my eyes on for some time now for less than 100NOK, a real bargain! Off to start, if you follow me on snapchat you will see some early sneak peeks and snaps from the progress :)

Catching up and my minimal strawberry mint smoothie.

Monday, May 9, 2016

First weekend back home and I have a lot to catch up with. After a month of perpetual travelling, from Milan during Design week, then Finland for the blogging awards, then Greece for two weeks, I am finally home for an entire month and it is going to be a busy one. I decided to take a few weeks off to rest so now I am ready to share with you everything I have been up to and all the news that are to come next few weeks! For today, since the weather was great, I decided to make a strawberry mint smoothie, very minimal, light and delicious!
For a minimal Strawberry Mint Smoothie :
Add a few frozen whole strawberries in your blender.Add half a cup of cold tap water (or more if you prefer a lighter consistency). Add 2 fresh mint leafs. Blend until smooth.
I add no dairy or any sort of granola in this particular smoothie, I find that the flavors are just great on their own, the mint gives a distinct fresh flavor while it also sweetens. You can drink this when you are thirsty or just take it with you to sip while working or on a hike.Either way, it is great for any occasion and since it is so light having double or triple portion is almost recommended! If you have any great smoothie recipes leave a comment below, summer is coming and I love smoothies!

Only Deco Love on Bloglovin

Saturday, March 26, 2016

Hello everyone! With Instagram changing how they filter our feed without giving us an option (posts will no longer be chronological but based on a hidden algorithm) , I am fighting back by following all my favorite Instagramers blogs that I hadn't been following already. One of the easiest ways to do that is with Bloglovin since it is the best feeder for blogs! I have already installed it on my phone and tablet, this way I can't miss any posts. Have you tried it? When you open the app there is a number next to any blog you follow to indicate how many posts you haven't read, and if you want, you can directly visit the feed as seen in the photo above and it will show you all my posts.  It is so easy to use either on your PC or tablet, I promise you will love it! It is like a newspaper but for blogs and without any ads :)
You can find my blog there as well by clicking here or you can use the widget below. If you love my photos and posts I would be so happy if you followed me, so see you over there! :)
